Sukeyuki was a herbalist and artist who drew the pictures of medicinal plants included in a 28 volume picture book entitled Shobutsu Ruisan Zuyoku (Compilation of Common Objects). It was published in 1779. The 48 pictures of plants included in volumes 1 and 2 are shown here. Click on a picture to enlarge it. Sukeyuki drew his plant subjects in a realistic way.
